pass the cheer, day 7
By Lesle | December 18, 2007

Well here is a tradition any single woman could get used to! A bunch of firemen on a truck riding down your street, sirens blaring, horns honking, beckoning you outside to have a seat on Santa’s lap. Okay, okay, so they are actually calling the kids out to meet Santa, but a girl can dream can’t she? :)
So yeah, I was a little disappointed this year because Ian decided to have a moment when the truck came down our street. This picture is from last year. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait till next year to get an eyeful.
Tell me about your favorite holiday traditions. Everyone who comments on this post will be entered into a random drawing for some Christmas goodies and then some!

Aw sorry you missed the fire men. I’ve taken PB twice to santa with no results. The first time she wailed and the second she wouldn’t even let go of me. I guess no photo w/ santa this year.

One of my favs is going to see the sweet Santa at the mall, I swear he is the sweetest old man ever, has a real white beard, and the softest voice. For 6 years now he has been at the mall I go to, first my oldest 2 went to see him, then about the time Ella was 3 months old, my oldest wouldn’t go, but that was ok, cause I still had 2 to take! This year my 2nd oldest decided he was too old to sit on Santa’s lap, so now it is just the youngest 2. Whatever will I do when they outgrow it???
Another fav is going to cut down our tree at a tree farm not far from us. Cam has been helping doing the sawing, and this year even got to help drag it instead of me!!!

One of my favorite traditions is going out to see the lights. When we’re with DH’s family we’ll all pile in a vehicle and drive around oohhhing and ahhhing. Literally. When one is looking at lights with my SIL one must not merely say, that’s nice. One must say “OoooH Ahhhh!” at the nice ones and OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHH! at the very nice ones. It can get pretty silly at times, since it causes everyone to get the giggles, but it’s fun!

Don’t have a lot of traditions so I can’t say I have a favorite but I will tell you one that I MUST have… Eating ham for Christmas because that’s what we always had that I remember. My mother said we had to have ham because we had turkey for Thanksgiving. We have Christmas dinner with MIL usually and I insist I have ham, even if it means I have to get a ham steak from the deli. So she buys a ham. :D

Since we’ve been together (this will be our 7th Christmas) Jason and I havent spent a single one together on the actual day :(
But we always do our Christmas early, one year we did Christmas on Dec. 10th LOL. But we always get up, eat something yummy, usually french toast, put on Christmas music or Christmas Vacation and open presents.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions when I was a kid was to read the story of the night before Christmas and to hang the matching ornaments on the tree on Christmas Eve. I’m currently trying to find the perfect ornaments to begin this tradition with my own family now. Only 3 more days til Christmas eve, guess I better get searching.

We take a city bus ride around town to look at the lights. Rob’s employer sets it up and it’s free. We did it last night and Santa actually got on the bus at one of the houses and handed out candy canes. So awesome.
